Cinnamon Marsala Pears
How can you possibly improve on the delicious taste of a juicy pear? Well, this Cinnamon Marsala Pear dessert recipe does just that!
Serves 4
Prep 20 minutes (plus cooling)
Cook 55 minutes
Cinnamon Marsala Pears Ingredients
2 cups marsala
1 cup brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 firm pears, peeled
50g dark chocolate, chopped
1/3 cup thickened cream

Cinnamon Marsala Pears Method
1) Combine marsala, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and 2 cups cold water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 3 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Add pears to saucepan. Cover. Increase heat to medium-high. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 40 to 50 minutes or until pears are tender, turning halfway through cooking. Set aside to cool in poaching liquid.
2) Place chocolate and cream in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring, for 2 to 3 minutes or until chocolate melts and sauce is smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
3) Divide pears among serving plates. Drizzle with chocolate sauce. Serve.
